“The beginning of its construction dates back to Augustus, in the I century D.C. and its completion goes on for the next two centuries.
Each column rests on a circular Estremoz white marble base. The capitals are carved in the same marble, with a decoration structured in three orders of acanthus and abacus, ornate by rosettes and floral ornaments, such as daisies, sunflowers and roses.
Most recent archaeological excavations, namely by Th. Hauschild, show the temple surrounded by a monumental portico and a water mirror.”
