Fountain of the Moor Gate
“The Fountain of the Moor Gate is inserted in the urban renovation process planned by Cardinal D. Henrique while he was the Archbishop of Évora. It was built in the XVI century in one of the most charismatic squares of the city, surrounded by mansions of distinguished noble families, and was inaugurated on December 4, 1556.
The fountain has two rectangular basins, the main one standing on a higher level, which you can reach through a platform of three steps. A circular marble fountain with four high relief cherubs supplies the two reservoirs.”
